This year, on April 22, students of grades 12.1 and 12.2 organized a conference on the topic 'Life after graduation from secondary school'.
For more than a month, students devoted their English lessons to preparing for the conference. They selected a topic, crafted their speeches, created presentations, and prepared a place for the conference.
During the conference, students spoke on topics such as adaptation to student life, the army, gap year and volunteering opportunities, as well as work. These topics are quite relevant, both for 12th and 11th grades, because everyone will have to ask themselves what to do after secondary school.
The conference was an excellent opportunity for students to develop their event management skills. Also, it offered them the opportunity to express their opinions and perform in front of an audience which will definitely be useful in the future.
Participants expressed their opinions about the conference.
Anastasija: I think that the conference was successful, it was well organized and the topic for the conference was relevant and interesting not only for listeners but also for us, we found a lot of opportunities after graduating secondary school that we did not think about before. It was useful for all of us.
Jeļizaveta: Personally, I enjoyed the conference because we talked about a topic that is relevant to us after graduating from Maltas Secondary School. This topic is about the choice of the future, when everyone will decide for themselves what path to take in life: whether to continue their studies in universities or colleges, or to give themselves the opportunity to enjoy life and volunteer. I had the opportunity to introduce the 11th graders to volunteering opportunities in Europe, Latvia and what organizations do it. I hope it was educational and interesting for the 11th graders!
Vladislavs: This test turned out to be one of the most unusual. The conference gave us a great opportunity to practice our speaking English, work in groups and prepare a unique presentation. I realized that the most important thing in such work is confidence and lack of fear of public speaking. In general, although the work took a lot of time and effort, I did not find it difficult. Perhaps not everything was perfect, but for the first time this is a very good result.
Lana: I think the conference turned out to be a success. Yes, of course, there were some shortcomings and disadvantages, but if we take into account the fact that it was the first experience in organizing such events, the conference turned out to be enriched and more or less complete. It was interesting to develop an organizational plan and try somehow to implement it, while improving our knowledge not only in the language sphere itself, but also in other fields as well.
Šī gada 22.aprīlī 12.1. un 12.2.klašu skolēni organizēja konferenci par tēmu 'Dzīve pēc vidusskolas absolvēšanas'.
Mēneša laikā skolēni gatavojas konferencei. Viņi izvēlējās tēmu, izstrādāja savas runas, veidoja prezentāciju un sagatavoja vietu konferencei.
Konferences laikā skolēni runāja par tādām tēmām kā pielāgošanās studentu dzīvei, armija, gap year(gada pārtraukums pirms studijām), brīvprātīgo darbu un par darba iespējām. Šīs tēmas ir aktuālas gan 12., gan 11. klasei, jo katram būs brīdis, kad vajadzēs domāt, ko darīt pēc vidusskolas beigšanas.
Konference bija lieliska iespēja skolēniem attīstīt savas organizēšanas prasmes. Kā arī deva viņiem iespēju izteikt savu viedokli un uzstāties publikas priekšā, kas noteikti noderēs nākotnē.

Jeļizaveta: Man personīgi konference patika, jo mēs runājām par tēmu, kas mums ir aktuāla pēc Maltas vidusskolas absolvēšanas. Šī tēma ir par nākotnes izvēli, kad katrs pats izlems, kādu ceļu dzīvē izvēlēties: vai turpināt studijas augstskolās vai koledžās, vai arī dot sev iespēju baudīt dzīvi un nodarboties ar brīvprātīgo darbu. Man bija iespēja 11. klases skolēnus iepazīstināt ar brīvprātīgā darba iespējām Eiropā, Latvijā un ar to, kādas organizācijas to dara. Ceru, ka 11. klašu skolēniem tas bija izglītojoši un interesanti!
Vladislavs: Šis pārbaudījums izrādījās viens no neparastākajiem. Konference mums sniedza lielisku iespēju praktizēt angļu valodu, strādāt grupās un sagatavot unikālu prezentāciju. Sapratu, ka svarīgākais šādā darbā ir pārliecība un drosme uzstāties publikas priekšā. Kopumā, lai gan darbs prasīja daudz laika un pūļu, man tas nelikās grūti. Varbūt ne viss bija ideāli, bet priekš pirmās reizes tas ir ļoti labs rezultāts.
Lana: Manuprāt, konference bija veiksmīga. Jā, protams, bija daži trūkumi, taču, ja ņem vērā to, ka tā bija pirmā pieredze šādu pasākumu organizēšanā, konference bija vairāk vai mazāk pilnvērtīga. Bija interesanti izstrādāt organizatorisko plānu un mēģināt to kaut kā realizēt, vienlaikus pilnveidojot zināšanas ne tikai pašā valodas sfērā, bet arī citās jomās.
Anastasija: Domāju, ka konference ir izdevusies, tā bija labi organizēta un tēma konferencei bija aktuāla un interesanta ne tikai klausītājiem, bet arī mums, pēc vidusskolas absolvēšanas atradām daudz iespēju, par kurām iepriekš nedomājām. Tas bija noderīgi mums visiem.
